Ladies National Woman’s Committee

Welcome to all my Lady Golfers and Non-Golfers.  What a great 2013 year we had.  I want to congratulate all the 2013 Lady Golfer winners.  I know Harlingen (April 3rd-5th) and El Paso (July 26th-28th) are planning a wonderful venue and golf courses for us.  Our Lady Committee is working very hard to continue to give five $500.00 scholarships to deserving Senior Graduate.  We have our Basket Raffle at the Winter National meeting and our Hat Raffle at the Summer Nationals.  We ask that you inform your members of our scholarship.  The application is on the National Web site.

Also on the web site is the application for Woman’s Hall of Fame.  We fought hard to have our own Hall of Fame and I am encouraging our Lady Golfers and Non-Golfers to apply.  If any of you have any suggestions for additions or changes to our Golf Rules and/or Hall of Fame application and credentialing please let me know.

Your Ladies Committee is working very hard.  We are convening prior to the Harlingen and El Paso meetings in Corpus Christi to set our agendas for the National NPAGA meetings.  Our 2014/2015 officers are Ophelia “Cookie” McBride-President, Dina Garcia-Vice President, Belinda Castillo-Secretary and Soccoro Vicinaiz-Treasurer.  Darlene Kie and Kim Moritomo are our Ladies Tournament Director.  Olivia Rivas is our Scholarship Chairman and Viola Saenz is our Hall of Fame Chairman.  Deborah Oliva and Francis Salazar will serve on Hall of Fame and Scholarship committees.

Ladies we really need to urge our Lady golfers to participate in our National meetings and tournaments.  Encourage our Lady members to participate by sponsoring a clinic.  When I first joined back in 1976, we averaged 60 players at our National tournaments.  I know we can do this again.  Until our next meeting in Harlingen, play great and stay safe.
